Challenge

Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire young people to be successful. Digitas volunteered to redesign JANY's website from top to bottom.

My role

I worked on this project from beginning to end. I gained in-depth knowledge of the brand and the content that helped me to guide the site's direction successfully. As the team expanded to include copywriters, visual designers, and eventually developers, I provided creative leadership.

I created the sitemap, wireframes, initial concepts for 3 Flash pieces, and documentation.

Highlights

We began by interviewing JANY staff members to give us a thorough understanding of the material, goals, and audiences. We also spoke with actual volunteers to see what made them decide to volunteer, and prospective volunteers to see what might hold them back.

With the insights gained, we built a dynamic, engaging Flash experience for the home page intended to convert information-seekers into volunteers. We created original, authentic content for this piece with our own photo shoot and transcribed interviews with actual volunteers and students.

The redesigned JANY site displays content which I reorganized to communicate JANY's offerings more clearly and to address the variety of audiences that make up the JANY community.
